Hormann North America Headquarters Sparta TN

Focus on Hörmann Factories Series - Inside Hörmann Sparta: North America's Home for Innovation

When Hörmann entered the North American market in 2006 with its acquisition of GADCO — known today as Hörmann Montgomery — a U.S. headquarters was still a distant idea. Fourteen years later, in 2020, that idea became 320,000 square feet of reality: Hörmann's new corporate headquarters and sectional door manufacturing plant in Sparta, Tennessee.

Inside Hörmann Sparta: North America's Home for Innovation

Inside the newest addition to Hörmann's North American manufacturing footprint — and the headquarters bringing it all together

Welcome to the sixth stop in our Focus on Hörmann Factories blog series. Hörmann's North American story actually started small — in 2005, the company opened an import business in Vonore, Tennessee, just ahead of its 2006 acquisition of GADCO (known today as Hörmann Montgomery). Over the following decade, a string of acquisitions built out Hörmann's footprint across North America, but the company still lacked a true home base. When the search for a headquarters site began, Alabama and Georgia both made the shortlist — but Tennessee's proximity to the country's most population-dense regions won out, positioning Hörmann to serve dealers and customers efficiently across the continent. In October 2017, Hörmann announced it: a new North American headquarters in Sparta, Tennessee.

Groundbreaking followed in August 2018, move-in came in April 2020, and the grand opening celebrated that October — turning 320,000 square feet of ambition into reality. Sparta started with just 10 employees working out of a construction trailer; today, that number has grown to 183 across administration, engineering, purchasing, marketing, customer service, and production. The facility itself spans 320,305 square feet (300,398 of production floor, 19,907 of office space) on 25 of its 75 available acres — with room to expand past 1 million square feet. Sparta may be a small town, but it's a big home: sitting 7 miles south of I-40 at Exit 288, and 10 miles from Tennessee Tech University, whose alumni make up a large share of the staff.

Manufacturing Innovation Built for Your Projects

Hörmann Sparta runs four product lines, each engineered for a different job. In addition, this factory manufactures guide tracks for all sectional doors sold across the entire East Coast.

  • Pan Doors — 255P/254P, 250P, Pro Tech 2500

  • Sandwich Doors — 340S, 350S, 354S, Therma Tech 3400

  • Carriage Doors — Therma Style 5500, Clima Elite 5800

  • Polyurethane Doors — 440U, 450U, Clima Tech 4400

Modern manufacturing technology isn't just about running lines faster — it's about what that speed means for your next project: quicker custom solutions, consistent quality, and doors that show up on schedule without cutting corners on performance.

Residential Garage Doors

Sparta produces five residential garage door models at a rate of hundreds of doors per week across three categories:

  • Pro Tech 2500 — Pan Model — 2” uninsulated 25-gauge steel | Optional polystyrene insulation | R-7.4

  • Therma Style 5500 – Sandwich Model – 2” polystyrene insulated steel | R-10.4

Sparta also manufactures eight commercial sectional door models, from pan, sandwich, and polyurethane panels:

  • 255P / 254P / 250P — Pan Models — Standard to industrial duty, 25-24-20 gauge | Hot-dipped galvanized with baked polyester finish | R-7.4

Built for What's Next

Sparta is the newest addition to Hörmann's North American footprint, but it carries the same standard set at every Hörmann facility: quick response, consistent quality, and products that perform.

As headquarters, Sparta does more than manufacture doors — it's where engineering, sales, marketing, and production come together to support dealers and customers across the continent. It's the clearest sign yet that Hörmann's growth in North America is just getting started.
